Resources

When it comes to instructional design, we are firm believers in the efficacy of the tried-and-tested fundamentals of our craft.

Our instructional design experts build the foundation of our online hospitality training programs with solid learning science principles (there's no need to reinvent the wheel) - and then we make it our own with our unique approach that makes Lobster Ink training sticks. For example, we recently launched Sustainability Awareness in Hospitality. An online hospitality training program comprising four short courses aimed at raising sustainability awareness amongst four key audience groups in hospitality. Using the principles of active learning, emotional engagement and motivation and relevance, the program raises awareness, empowers and gives the learner a choice. But what does that look like in practice? Let’s take a closer look:

Active Learning

Our instructional design approach encourages learners to actively engage with the content. By presenting sustainability choices and their consequences, learners are prompted to think critically and make decisions. This active involvement promotes deeper understanding and knowledge retention.

Emotional Engagement

Utilizing positive visuals and success stories, we aim to trigger an emotional response. Emotions can enhance memory and motivation, making learners more likely to remember and apply sustainable practices.

Motivation and Relevance

By highlighting the connection between sustainability and hospitality service excellence, we are addressing the principle of motivation through relevance. Learners are more motivated when they see the direct relevance of what they're learning to their job and its potential impact.
